Absolutely Beautiful

It is an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Saturday! I will continue to admire the beautiful weather when I start out on my first of three treks to Cleveland this week. I have not done a confession blog in a while, so I thought that this relaxed Saturday should be the day.

1. First, I hate driving. This might be in part to my lack of navigational ability or that my car dependability history has been a little on the lower end. My hatred could have also been heightened by the fact that I do not have a radio in my car. I am excited about going to Cleveland this week, but I abhor the drive. I’m so glad that my dear Zachary likes to drive more than I do. Hopefully he will do most of the driving once we’re married. I know that he does not enjoy his 16 hour round trips from Texas, but I am SO thankful that he chooses to make them anyway. Thanks, love!

2. I have a countdown going for lots of different things. I am in a pretty exciting season of life right now. I have 6 days until I turn in my LAST crucial assignments of my undergraduate degree. I will turn in my resource notebook for my course and finish that course up, and I will present my portfolio of all of my work over the last 4 years. Ahhhhh this is so sweet. It is all downhill from there. I have 2 weeks and 6 days until I see my blue eyed man again. I have 3 weeks exactly until I graduate from Delta State University. I have 5 weeks and 3 days until I complete my internship. I have 7 weeks until my man moves back to Mississippi and I don’t have to wait weeks at a time to see him!!! I have 84 days until I become Jessica Hardy. That’s just a big heap of excitement, reader friends!

3. Wedding planning is DUMB. I want to elope.

image

HA HA

Ha ha I’m only kidding! I have dreamt about my wedding since I was a little girl, but some of this stuff is just silly. I don’t care if you like the food at the reception. I don’t care if you think my decorations are too simple. I don’t care if everything isn’t exactly perfect. I just don’t care about all of this silly detail. I just want to marry Zach Hardy!

4. I LOVE giving gifts. I just got my bridesmaid gifts, and I’m excited to add some more personalization for the girls. I almost got me one too, but I refrained. Ha

I hope that you enjoy this beautiful Saturday!

I Know What Day It Is

I have just completed two major tasks of my internship, so I am celebrating. How do I celebrate? I take time to write a blog post. I am a very exciting person, I know! I am going to do a What I’m Loving Wednesday Thursday post. I am known for confusing what day it it, but this time I am aware that it is not really Wednesday, but I’m writing a Wednesday post because I can. Pretend with me for a moment.

image

1) First of all, I am loving that I have a job interview set up with DeSoto County in exactly one week! This is what I have been working diligently towards for the last four years, and now…it is here. I would very much LOVE to be working in DeSoto County.

2) I am loving my engagement ring! It is super shiny and pretty, and it distracts me when I am trying to do…well anything. This is such a sweet season of life.

image

via

3) I am loving Zach Hardy! I know that I talk a lot about him, but I just want you guys to know just how amazing he is. I’m not sure that my words can do him justice, but he is incredible!

image

I LOVE this man!!! :)

4) I am loving that I will never have to write a TIAI unit or a Teacher Work Sample again!!! That’s a pretty big deal. It makes me want to dance, actually. Now, I am loving that I get to actually teach the unit I invested so much time in. It will be a fun time with those kiddos. I am teaching about the body systems, and I LOVE science.

5) I’m loving that I made time to write a blog post, because I have very much missed the world of blogging.

Happy Thursday, reader friends!

I said YES!!!

So guys and gals, this post will most likely lean to the longer side, but I hope it is as exciting for you to read as it will be for me to write! This is the story of my engagement! Yes, I will soon become Jessica Hardy. Wow! Doesn’t that just sound right?!? It’s pretty neat to see in writing, too. I’ve actually stared at what will be my new name for a good minute or so. It’ll do. This is my soon to be husband. MAN, that is so weird to say!

image

Handsome, isn't he?

Well, he lives in Fort Worth, Texas as he is finishing up with seminary. That has been extremely hard being away from each other. We have a story unlike many other couples, but what we have been through together and apart has grown us both in the Lord in ways I can’t put into words. Our background is a whole other story for a different time. Anyways, I knew he was planning on coming to Mississippi for the weekend to be a small group leader for a Disciple Now for the church that I was youth intern with in Cleveland, Mississippi. He told me that he would start driving early in the morning to make sure that he made it in time to eat lunch with me and the class I have while I am student teaching. I told him that I would still love him if he did not make it to lunch, because that meant leaving Texas and being on the road by 2:30 a.m. to make it in time. He made me think that he was on the road that early in the morning headed my way, but he was really just arriving to Hernando with one of his sisters, Lydia at that time. Lydia also lives in Texas.

image

I love him!

That is where the deception began. Ha The teacher I am under for my internship is absolutely amazing! He had called her the week of and told her of his plans. She jumped for joy as she sneakily helped him with the details. Lydia and Zach came to eat lunch with me and the students. Zach told me that they had just gotten in and went straight to the school and that his youngest sister, Michaela took a skip day to come meet them. He asked me if it would be okay that all of them were there, and I said that I would love it. I was still not suspicious. Then, my teacher came to the table where we were and began saying that the star student of the week usually has their parent come eat lunch with them on Friday and that the parent comes to the class after lunch to read a story to the students. Our star student did not do that that day. I’ve actually never seen it happen, but apparently that part isn’t just made up. Anyways, she went through this big thing of trying to talk one of the three into reading a book to the class. The sisters put it off on Zach. I was still not suspicious. I wish you guys could have seen the acting there. They were excellent now that I look back at it and know that it was all preplanned. Sneaky sneaky!

image

via

I kept apologizing to Zach, because I felt like he was put on the spot. I said, “She’s just very straightforward, and I think she was completely serious about you reading a book.” Ha He just looked so nervous. He had a child plant his book in one of my teacher’s book tubs. He acted as if he went in and randomly picked up a book. He had gotten the book You. It is a children’s book that talks about all of the different things in the world. At the end of each description it says, “But the best thing in my world is…you”.

image

THE book

She set up two chairs at the front of the room. She told me to come sit by him. I tried to convince her to let our star student sit by him. She said, “No, he is your company. You must sit by him.” Ha So, I went up there and sat by him. As I looked at the book, I noticed that it was a lower level book and I almost told him that we could grab another higher level book. Ha ha ha I was still not suspicious. She called all the students to the floor to sit and listen to the book. As he read through it, I was thinking, “Awww this is such a sweet little book.” I was still not suspicious.

image

via

He read it in a very animated fashion, because he’s Zach Hardy. He doesn’t know any other way. I will say I was very impressed that he could be so animated and expressive on the first read through of a completely new book. I was still not suspicious. When he got to the last few pages of the book said: “ The world is an exciting place with up, downs, around and arounds, and far, far aways. But the most exciting place in my world is with…YOU.” The last page of the book only had the word “YOU” on it along with a picture of me. One of the students said, “Hey! That’s Miss Calvery!” I was REALLY confused at that point.

image

Did I say that I love him?

At that moment, I think my brain completely shut down. He began to read the poem, and I don’t know what was happening in my head. I was too scared to react, because I was thinking maybe he was just being super sweet and this wasn’t the proposal. I looked over and Lydia was crying. Then, the line ended with the word “life” and well, you know what rhymes with life! He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I had to ask him later if he got down on one knee, because I honestly couldn’t remember. I was sitting next to him, but I don’t know where I was. After he asked me one of the students asked, “Is this real?”. Then, another said, “Miss Calvery just got married!” Ha He had a letter at the beginning of the book, and adjectives written all around my picture, and he had all of the students sign their name in the book.

The poem goes as follows:

“You’ve been my friend for several years. We’ve joked, we’ve laughed, and yes, we’ve shed tears. You burn with a passion to live for God’s glory. It’s amazing to see how He’s writing your story. Tenderness and faithfulness are qualities you share, along with many other things that make you so rare. You’ve challenged me in areas you have yet to know and have continually inspired me to steadily grow. You’ve been my supporter and cheerleader in life. So, I’d like to ask the question, ‘Will you be my wife?’”

image

via

They then buzzed the office and had his father (who was waiting in the office) come in. I hugged him and said, “You are going to be my father-in-law!” He said, “You can just drop that in-law part.” That touched my heart like I can’t explain. His family is amazing, and I can’t explain how BLESSED I am to be becoming a part of them!

image

:)

I bet all of you want to see the ring, don’t you?!? Well, I don’t have a good picture of it at the moment. Although, on my Pinterest wedding board I had a ring that I had titled “This is kinda my dream ring”. Well, he did some collaborating with the besties and without seeing the picture he basically gave me an identical ring. I’ll post it. Know that they are pretty much identical.

image

The shininess is still slightly distracting to me!

I went to bed that night with the most ridiculous smile ever on my face, and I woke up with that exact same ridiculous smile. Ha I don’t think it has completely sunk in that I will be marrying him. I will go ahead and apologize in advance to those who are around when it finally does sink in. Ha I just can’t believe it. He is the man I have been praying for for all of these years. He is the man that I have been writing letters to. This is the man I am going to be spending the rest of my life with, and I just can’t believe it’s now. There is no better man on the planet. I refused to settle for someone that I felt could not lead me and a future family in the way the Word instructs. I completely trust him with that role! He is going to be my partner for the Gospel, and it’s so encouraging to think that this is only the beginning of what God has in store for us!

P.s. Mark your calendar for July 7, 2012, so you can come see me marry my best friend!

I Confess

It’s that time again; time for random bouts of confession.

1) It has been one LONG day! I kept thinking it was Friday all day long. Nope, it is only Monday. Wow!

image

via

2) I MISS MY FRIENDS…A LOT!!! Home isn’t really home anymore. I’m used to having people come in and out of my house constantly. I’m not used to having quiet moments. I’m not sure I like it. Ha

image

via

image

via

3) I can’t really explain it, but I think being in Texas right now would be nice.

image

via

4) Adults that act like children get on my nerves.

image

via

5) I am watching the LSU-Bama game, and I would like Bama to win.

image

via

6) It really annoys me that I look like an adolescent. It annoys me even more when people tell me so. I am an adult. Maybe I should get a shirt made.

image

Grrr

That is all for now. I hope your week has started off wonderfully!

What’s Not to Love?

It’s that time again! It’s time to link up with Jamie and write the What I’m Loving Wednesday post!

image

First, I am loving that I have the opportunity to do my student teaching in a second grade classroom. I met the students today, and I am absolutely loving how stinking precious they are! The school is great, and there couldn’t be a more friendly staff to welcome me in. I am a mixture of excited and nervous to begin teaching, but as I met the students today it became more of an excitement.

image

via

I’m also loving that none of the students are taller than I am. When I started off the year in a 4th grade classroom, that was not the case. Ha Any grade above 4th has a guarantee that there will be students taller than me. The professors at Delta State University have told me to be “small but mighty’. That’s the goal anyway.

image

I'm going to invest in some comfy heels

Lastly, I am loving that I have such a wonderful boyfriend! He has been my number one encourager in the Word, but also in the things of my everyday. I couldn’t ask for a better one! I am super thankful for him! Below is a picture of him and his younger sister, Michaela during the break.

Provision

Are any of you stubborn? I definitely fit into that category! One of the lessons God has been teaching me lately is that He is the Provider of any and every need in our lives. I tend to forget that, and try to deceive myself into thinking that I have the tiniest bit of control in my own life. God is funny, and He wasn’t going to let me overlook His blessing and the lesson He was trying to plant in my heart this time. He let the provision and blessing overflow all at once.

image

via

I have the most amazing friends in the entire world! My computer broke this last semester, and my ridiculously awesome friends got together and got me one. These crazy people got a tacky Christmas sweater/potluck/end of the semester/Dirty Santa party together in which they would surprise me with the computer they got on Black Friday. It was an epic, successful surprise. They made sure that I received the last number, so that I would be the last to open a gift. Even when I opened the computer my thought process was, “Oh, that’s dirty. Those heifers put a broken computer in here.” Lol It took me a good little minute to catch on. You should watch the video on my facebook wall. It’s pretty hilarious.

image

These are my awesome friends involved. There are still some that could not be there. Love y'all!

Then, as I had to say goodbye to the youth I have worked with for 2 and 1/2 years and the wonderful church I love so much, they also greatly blessed me. I am very easy to surprise, and they did it…twice! The morning of my last Sunday I received a love offering from the church. Then, that night they had more surprises for me before the youth Christmas party. I had pretty bald tires on my car. They were actually dangerous to drive on, but new tires require money. So, I was waiting. They measured my tires while I was in the office one day, and they went and prepaid for me to get four new tires on my car! My car drives SO much better!

image

image

via

image

via

They also made me a scrapbook of my time there and had the students sign it. That was so very precious. Then, I was given a large basket of teaching supplies as they sent me off. I was pretty excited. lol Then, Brad (my boss) had the students lay hands on me and pray over me. There were tears…lots of them. I can’t tell my friends, my church family, and those students just how much I love them!

image

via

image

via

God is very aware of my stubborn nature, and He was making sure that He drove His point home this time. He is Provider of ALL needs! I need only to trust Him and let go of all worry. Not only did He use His people to supply my monetary needs, He used them to show love. I got a greater glimpse of how much He loves me and that He cares more about my needs than I do. He was also not going to let me miss that there are people in my life that love me and desire to take care of me. That meant more than anything. I kept saying over and over again, “I don’t deserve this.” God spoke over me, “Accept it, Jessica. You ARE loved, not only by me but by those in your life. Accept it.” This was not audible, but it was oh so clear. I couldn’t be more blessed. How have you been provided for, reader friends?

Twitterpated

Yay! It’s time for What I’m Loving Wednesday! Time to link up with Jamie!

image

First I am loving that I learned this fancy new word “twitterpated” last week. It’s just fun to say, and in this season of life it is just appropriate. Ha I have never seen the movie Bambi.

image

via

I am loving that my VERY LAST night class in Jackson was yesterday, and I NEVER have to do anything for that ridiculous class again. No more wasted gas or wasted time. Let’s be honest, the class was a waste of my life, but it was required. What do ya do?

image

via

I am very much loving that I get to call this man: image

…my boyfriend…again. I couldn’t be more thankful for my season of singleness, because I learned SOOOOOOOOOO much! But now I am entering into another sweet, sweet season, and I’m happy with it. Our story is not like most, but it’s beautiful. He’s a winner, and I am a lucky woman!

I am loving that I am completely done with any and all kind of lesson plans until January. It’s just finals and then I am DONE with this semester! Yes, I do plan on celebrating! How? With food, of course! How else would we do it in the South?

image

I'm almost free!

There’s a lot to be loving in life! What are you loving? Have a wonderful Wednesday!
